Now that the Snohomish 2007 event is history, perhaps recording the highlights
would help us all to put it in perspective. There were some problems with the site concerning its location near
the carnival, the lack of trees, the proximity of the road, the rain.
However, there were some very good things to say about the event. The choreography of both the "Mule Shoe" and the "Crater" were very good. The battles were
fun and entertaining and I heard several favorable comments about them.
The camp life was also good. Reenactors overcame the sounds of the Carnival
(including one ride that regularly emitted a high pitched squeal) to make music, socailize, and share the bond
we have. When the dance was cancelled for rain, the reenacting community gathered its musicians and made their own.
Like all events we can take from it the good and the bad. From the bad we can learn but we should treasure the good
and remember why we do this hobby.
